Deeptech on the north bank is not a side quest
Guwahati’s unusual deeptech share is not a vibe. It is IIT Guwahati plus BioNEST plus a set of unglamorous industrial problems.
Most Indian tier-two scenes over-index on services and under-index on hardware. Guwahati is the other way around because the campus on the Brahmaputra has been incubating since 2009. Robotics for tank cleaning, diagnostics, drones, energy units — the pattern is a lab problem with a buyer in oil, defence, or public health.
The constraint is not ideas. It is pilots that take twelve months and cheques that still assume you will move to Bengaluru. Mentors who have taken a device from bench to a PSU vendor list are scarce. That is why the operator bench in this community is weighted toward people who have done field trials, not just pitch decks.
If you are building on the north bank, the useful weekly email is not another “10 AI tools.” It is who is opening a BioNEST desk, which OIL or NRL programme is live, and which angels will look at hardware.
